About the Author
Thank you visiting the website of Susie Quinn. The purpose of this website is to discover new and interesting technologies and how they can be integrated into library systems, as well as share my personal experience as a new librarian in probably one of the worst job markets of the century.
In 2005, I decided to pursue my MLIS, from SJSU SLIS program. Between 2007-2010, I was employed as a Graduate Assistant to Dr. Linda Main, the Associate Director and Coordinator of Admissions and Academic Advising. I served as the technical administrator for SLISLife, a social networking site for SJSU SLIS students. I also developed numerous learning objects, web tutorials, and researched new technologies. Please visit my portfolio for examples of my work. I played a lot in Second Life, and worked extensively with Dr. Jeremy Kemp, Assistant Director for Second Life Campus, whom I considered to be my mentor throughout the program. I was the Co-Chair/Web Coordinator for American Library Association Student Chapter for the 2009-2010 school year.
I officially started my career in Librarianship on December 14, 2010, with a 3 month stint as a Reference Librarian at Southern California Library Cooperative. My main job responsibilities were to provide second level reference to our member libraries, create webinars and learning objects on a variety of emerging technology topics, and provide reference through Instant Librarian. At the end of April, I was laid off due to California budget issues.
Please see my resume for more information on my work and education.
